Sri Lanka Association for the Software Industry (SLASI) annually conducts the Young Computer Scientist Competition in search of young talents island wide. This year SLASI has linked their 8th YCS Competition with the Ministry of Education, hence giving it national recognition.

Kasun Dias, Kavindu Dias, Nilupul Bandara and Ramesh Weerakoon of Gateway College, Rajagiriya won the bronze medal for the International Schools junior category. The gold medal was won by a student from Lexicon International School, while the silver was not awarded.

Shanith Perera of Gateway College, Negombo, Sahani Witharana, Buddhima Amaratunga, Nisith Vilochana, Bisina Wickramasinghe, Maneesha De Silva, Dushanthi Nirmada, Pamodh Yasawardene, Lahiruni Abeywickrama, Mayantha Meewanage, Shashikala Wanigasinghe and Lakindu Abeytissa of Gateway Kids School of Computing won merit awards their respective projects.
