Founded in 1861, LAMDA is the oldest drama school in the UK. Building on the success of the OL
students in LAMDA Level 3 Certificate in Performance: Acting, that is designed to enable Learners to
develop a wide range of acting skills, Gateway wishes to introduce drama at AL through ATCL/LTCL
qualifications offered by Trinity College London. Trinity is a leading international examination board
and independent education charity that has been providing assessments around the world since
1877. Through drama, students learn to think and interpret imaginatively and creatively while
learning to communicate ideas and develop as effective independent learners. Students are
provided with the opportunity to develop their knowledge of different periods of drama and a
variety of style and techniques used by dramatists, which will assist them in understanding dramatic
texts used in literature.
Pearson Edexcel BTEC qualifications are internationally recognised vocational courses
offered worldwide. Students will sharpen their organizational and managerial skills, record
keeping skills and academic writing skills through the study of BTEC Sports while also
acquiring the knowledge to plan and execute a sports event and expedition experiences.
Gateway College offers the LAMDA medal Examinations along with International GCSEs and Trinity
College London Performing Diplomas along with ALs.
Drama at OL - LAMDA Medal Examinations in Acting – Grade 8 (Gold), Grade 7 (Silver) and Grade 6
(Bronze) are designed to develop skills necessary to communicate dramatic text to an audience.
Learners who prepare themselves appropriately will develop interpretative skills, technical skills and
the knowledge of the performance process. These critical skills will enhance their self-confidence to
engage and contribute fully, whether at school, in further education, at work or in the community: In
other words, to fulfill their potential. Further, these examinations encourage learners to develop a
love of literature, poetry and drama and assist them to earn up to 30 UCAS points that would help
them in getting into UK universities.
Drama at AL - Performing Diplomas of Trinity College London are designed to encourage candidates
to be innovative, multi-skilled and reflective performers, developing and evidencing their skills in
rehearsal and performance methodologies. Candidates demonstrate the principles and practice of
vocal and physical skills, characterization and audience engagement through preparing and
performing or presenting a range of material drawn from areas they may be studying, that they
enjoy, or that present a new challenge. Learners have the opportunity to reach two levels on the
Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF): Level 4 (ATCL) — equivalent standard to the first year of
an undergraduate degree course and Level 6 (LTCL) — equivalent standard to the final year of an
undergraduate degree course.
